Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski and the Teacher’s Association of Baltimore County (TABCo) Endorse Samay Singh Kindra for Board of Education

OWINGS MILLS, MD (May 10th, 2022) – Candidate for the Baltimore County Board of Education in the Fourth District, Samay Singh Kindra, today earned the coveted endorsements of Baltimore County Executive Johnny “Johnny O” Olszewski Jr. and the Teacher’s Association of Baltimore County (TABCo). TABCo represents Baltimore County Public School educators, with over 9,000 members in total.

"I have now known Samay Kindra for several years, and in that time, I’ve seen firsthand his incredible leadership, passion, and commitment to bringing bold change to his community,” said Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski Jr. “Our communities deserve leadership motivated by the idea that no matter their neighborhood, students will have every opportunity to reach their full potential. Samay has the experience, perspective, and skills needed to help plan a future for our education system grounded in equity that will ensure all students receive a world-class 21st-century education.”

Kindra is a lifelong resident of Baltimore County and proud graduate of Baltimore County Public Schools. He has made it his mission to ensure and expand access to the resources and opportunities our schools, students, teachers, and families deserve and need to thrive.

“Today represents a significant milestone in this campaign and a recognition of our commitment to bringing equity and opportunity to the students and educators of Baltimore County,” said Kindra. “I am humbled and honored to have the support of the County Executive and TABCo in the race for the future of BCPS. I look forward to working closely with the County Executive and our educators as we endeavor to provide the next generation with a world-class education.”

As a Sikh Indian American, Samay is hopeful of becoming the first turbaned-Sikh elected to office in the State of Maryland. Kindra grew up in Owings Mills and attended New Town Elementary, Sudbrook Middle, and Western Tech High. He then went on to attend the University of Maryland, where he earned two undergraduate degrees and is scheduled to graduate next Spring from the University of Maryland Carey School of Law.
