REPRESENTING OUR COMMUNITIES OF COLOR

Representing those that have been historically unrepresented.

As equally crucial components of our democracy, all our communities need to be equally represented and mobilized. Throughout American history, governments and communities alike have ignored the well-being of large minority communities who, more often than not, have lacked access to both tangible resources and opportunities to organize and educate themselves effectively. Samay works every day to build access on both fronts.

Samay is a member of Baltimore County’s Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity Community Advisory Council, a group dedicated to acknowledging, advancing, and celebrating diversity, inclusion, and equity countywide. Here, he works with the rest of the council to make policy recommendations and lead community initiatives that encourage cultural education and equitable access to government resources.

Samay also holds the Chair of the Young Democrats of Maryland Caucus of Color, where he mobilizes young Democrats of color through online events and the Caucus of Color Mentorship Program. This position allows him to build relationships and give young people access to political resources that might not be otherwise available, such as a meeting with County and State officials or a mentorship with a Maryland public servant. Here, he also actively seeks to educate young people of color on their own rights and abilities in our communities with online series events like Color in Politics
