for Board of Education

OWINGS MILLS, MD (May 18, 2022) – Candidate for the Baltimore County Board of Education in the Fourth District, Samay Singh Kindra, earned the coveted endorsement of Maryland Speaker Adrienne A. Jones and the District 10 Unity Team. Seeking to represent the 10th Legislative District, the Team is committed to using their combined skill sets to achieve the priorities collectively set by the 10th District community.

“Our team is focused on diligently and deliberately working hard for our communities and our families, and that is why we support Samay,” said Speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates, Adrienne A. Jones. “Samay will bring the leadership that our families need and deserve to create a 21st century education system grounded in equity and focused on student well-being that will ensure all students reach their greatest potential.”

The District 10 Unity Team consists of Speaker Adrienne A. Jones, Delegate Ben Brooks, candidate for State Senate, N. Scott Phillips, candidate for Delegate, and Jennifer White, candidate for Delegate. The Team is dedicated to values that reflect a principled and equitable approach that develops and supports education, healthcare, economic, and justice systems that work for everyone.

Kindra is a lifelong resident of Baltimore County and a proud graduate of the Baltimore County School System. He has made it his mission to ensure and expand access to the resources and opportunities our schools, students, teachers, and families deserve and need to thrive.

“I am humbled to receive the endorsement of Speaker Adrienne Jones and the District 10 Unity Team,” said Kindra. “As I look to become the first Sikh elected to office in Maryland, I am especially grateful to have the opportunity to work with and learn from Speaker Jones who made history herself by becoming the first African-American and the first woman Speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates. I am excited to work closely with the District 10 Team in Annapolis to develop an education system that will work for all students, families, and educators.”

Kindra’s momentum in the race for Board of Education continues to grow rapidly with the support of more key Baltimore County leaders. In endorsing Kindra, the District 10 Unity Team joins Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski Jr and the Teacher’s Association of Baltimore County.

As a Sikh Indian American, he is seeking to become the first Sikh elected to office in the State of Maryland. Kindra grew up in Owings Mills, Maryland attended New Town Elementary, Sudbrook Middle, and Western Tech High. He then went on to attend the University of Maryland, where he earned two undergraduate degrees and is now studying at the University of Maryland Carey School of Law.
